Albania costs and budget: price your own trip

Start with one complete trip

Write down your flight dates and count the nights you actually need. A late landing can add an airport stay; an early flight affects the location of your final night. If arriving through Corfu, include airport-to-port transport, the ferry and any overnight connection.

Use the total accommodation price for the whole group, with the same room arrangement and cancellation conditions. Divide by the number of travellers afterwards. Otherwise a dormitory bed can look comparable to a private room when it is a different product.

Car versus bus: keep the route identical

Price two versions of the same itinerary. For buses, include reaching the departure point and getting from the arrival stop to the next room. For a car, include the second driver, child seat or other options you actually need. Ask which charges are payable at collection.

Compare the job you need transport to do. Two city bases are different from daily visits to remote beaches. Hiring only for the part of the trip when you need a vehicle is a scenario worth pricing, rather than a guaranteed saving.

Currency, deposits and cancellation

Convert euro and lek quotes with the same chosen comparison rate. The Bank of Albania publishes a reference rate; a bank or exchange office may apply a different rate and fees. Keep the original-currency amount in your notes.

A refundable rental deposit is not ordinary holiday expenditure, but you still need the required payment capacity. Record payment and cancellation dates beside each reservation. A non-refundable offer and a flexible booking are different choices even when the room is identical.

Before committing

  • Mark a missing quote as unknown rather than entering zero.
  • Check the effect of a missed connection or an additional night.
  • Compare fewer bases, a different room or fewer paid outings. Change one choice at a time.
  • Use the payment guide for cash and card costs. This is a budgeting method, not a current nationwide price list.
