Start with your next overnight stay
For a city visit, choose an arrival that works for the room and walkable streets. Before Theth or Koman, pickup location, departure time and luggage arrangements become the main selection criteria. Do not let a good-looking room be the only reason to choose an awkward address.
Our usual planning suggestion is to sleep in Shkodër before the mountains. This avoids linking an intercity ride directly to a separate transfer. It does not mean every transfer leaves early or operates daily: confirm your date with the supplier.
Which terminal does your service use?
Individual Gjirafa listings name South and North Terminal and Shkoder Station. Generic text on the same page also mentions hostel stops in both towns. These are not interchangeable instructions. If unclear, have the operator confirm the actual location.
Some reviewed listings showed roughly 1h50–55 and €5. Other suppliers and departures differ. Use those examples as context, not confirmation of the last bus, every fare or your hotel-to-hotel travel time. eTransport is another checking point, but our web inspection could not extract its live departure list.

Airport arrival: direct or via the terminal?
VisitShkodër advertises airport connections. It is a local tourism and booking site, not a complete national timetable. Ask the operator about your flight date and delay arrangements. We could not confirm a current direct Shkodër service on the English airport page reviewed.
The regional-terminal route is another possibility. The airport publishes a separate terminal shuttle as well as the city-centre bus. Include disembarkation, waits and interchange. After a late arrival, compare a confirmed transfer with a straightforward first night. An available ride to Shkodër does not establish an onward mountain connection.
Arrival, luggage and a Theth departure
Send the actual arrival stop to your property. Ask who will receive you, where the next transfer collects and whether breakfast fits that departure. If pickup is elsewhere, solve that extra journey too.
For the Theth–Valbona crossing, establish where a suitcase stays, whether storage covers nights when you have no room booked and when you return. Storage, parking and transport are three separate agreements. Use the detailed logistics guide below to close the loop.
Before setting off
- Save the operator, date, time and map pin in one confirmation.
- Check luggage, payment and what an online ticket includes.
- Agree room access and mountain pickup with the correct supplier.
- Plan the return to Tirana or the airport separately; the reverse service may follow different hours.
