Public Transport in Albania: Plan the Bus Route
Travelling without a car works best between larger towns. Confirm each service, departure point and final leg to your accommodation.

Which legs suit a bus trip?
Build around larger towns. This is a route-planning guide, not a promise of a direct bus or fixed frequency on your date.

The city stop and Terminali Jug-Veri
Luna’s city bus stops behind the Opera; the separate terminal service goes to Terminali Jug-Veri. For onward travel to Berat or the north, use the terminal address on your intercity booking. Do not board the city service simply because both buses say Tirana.
For Berat–Gjirokastër, Gjirokastër–Sarandë and Sarandë–Himarë we could not confirm a consistent current combination of stop, duration and fare. We therefore give no fixed prices or times. Select your travel day and destination in eTransport, then have the operator confirm the boarding point and last usable departure. A timetable dated December 2022 is not a current guarantee.

The day-before checklist
Confirm the service with the operator or terminal. A search result alone is not enough for a day with another connection.
- Does this service run on your date, and how early should you arrive?
- Where exactly do you board and get off?
- How is the ticket bought and paid for? Keep some lek in reserve.
- Can your suitcase, stroller or mobility aid go on this vehicle?
- How will you reach the accommodation if you arrive later than planned?
When one transfer earns its cost
A no-car route need not use buses for every kilometre. Use one planned transfer for a weak link: a late flight, a remote coast stay or a mountain leg with no workable independent connection. Confirm total price, pickup point, luggage and cancellation in writing.
Our ten-day no-car trip stays with Tirana, Berat, Gjirokastër and Sarandë. That avoids several uncertain beach and hotel changes. If Himarë is your goal, solve the final leg before booking there.
Protect the flight and keep a fallback
The airport publishes a separate city bus and a service to the South and North Bus Terminal. They are not interchangeable. Check the current airport page. For an early return flight, a final night in Tirana or by the airport is often simpler than travelling straight from the south.
If you have accessibility needs or large luggage, ask the specific operator about the vehicle, boarding, assistance and seat. There is no uniform accessibility guarantee across buses and furgons.

Shkodër–Theth: a specific minibus option
Ferry Berisha offers online-bookable minibuses between Hotel Rozafa, Shkodër and Mini Market Jezerca, Theth. Its fare page lists €12 per person each way. Published departure/arrival pairs imply about 1½–2½ hours in the vehicle; add waiting and the final journey to your guesthouse separately.
The sources give different morning departure times. Use the time on your confirmed booking. Confirm luggage rules and the onward approach to your guesthouse: this service does not promise a drop-off at every property.
