Which period fits your trip?
Treat this as a planning choice, not a forecast. A month helps you choose a route; check a mountain pass, boat or beach business for your actual dates.

For the coast, choose a base as well as a month
July and August bring a lively coast, but a day covering several popular beaches can disappear into driving and parking. Stay somewhere you can walk to dinner and a swim. Three nights in one place leave two full days.
In May, June, September or October, ask your accommodation which restaurants, boats and beach facilities operate on your dates. Quiet only helps if the services your trip needs are open.

For towns, move the day around the heat
Berat and Gjirokastër have steep streets and much of the visit is on foot. In hot summer weeks, an early walk and a long afternoon break work better than a full sightseeing list at midday.
Spring and autumn often leave more room for walking, but give outdoor plans an alternative. A museum, market or longer meal can absorb a rainy afternoon.
For the Alps, ask about the route this week
A calendar month cannot tell you whether the road to Theth, a particular trail or a pass is suitable that day. Ask your accommodation or a local guide close to departure about access, weather, snow, waymarking and the return journey. Book a through-hike only after solving luggage and transport at both ends.
For a first mountain trip, staying in one valley is simpler than crossing a pass. If conditions deteriorate, keep Shkodër or a town stay as the alternative.

Turn the season into a route
With seven days and a town focus, use the Berat and Gjirokastër route. Ten days can add one coast base. Our fourteen-day route includes Theth; keep it only if the mountain transfer and intended walk fit your dates.
Book the scarce parts that determine the journey first, but keep weather-sensitive activities and the night before the return flight flexible where possible.
