Dajti cable car from Tirana: transport, tickets and your time at the top

From city streets to woodland and views. Plan the journey to Dajti Ekspres, choose what to do above and leave room for the return. A cable-car outing is different from a mountain hike.

At a glance

Our starting point
Allow a generous half-day for transport, the cable car, views and an unhurried break.
Which station?
Head to the lower station in Linzë, rather than searching only for “Dajti Mountain”.
What to do above
Choose views and a short walk, or add one suitable activity.
Back to Tirana
Confirm the final descent and plan transport from the lower station too.

Why Dajti makes a different day from central Tirana

Dajti Ekspres takes you from the city’s outskirts into a mountain setting with woodland, views and facilities around the upper station. The cable ride itself is a substantial part of the outing. You do not need to add a summit walk or a packed activity schedule to make a worthwhile escape from the city.

Our preference for a first visit is straightforward: ride up, look around, take a short walk and leave time for a break. That gives you room to enjoy the place. Choose Dajti because the cable-car and mountain combination appeals; if a museum is the main point of your day, let that museum choice lead the plan instead.

By bus: Porcelan and a final uphill approach

The operator names Qendër–Porcelan as the direct bus option from the centre and describes a short uphill walk from its last stop. The municipality also identifies the Porcelan connection. Save both the name and pin of the lower station. Ask where to get off for Dajti Ekspres when boarding; the cable car does not start on the central square.

Check the departure point and return connection for your day. We do not turn published frequencies and older fares into a fixed itinerary. Include waiting, the bus ride and the walk if you have a later appointment. With heavy bags, or if uphill walking is difficult, an agreed ride to the station may fit better.

Taxi or rental car: use the lower-station pin

The operator places the lower station in Linzë on Tirana’s outskirts. Give a driver this specific destination rather than only the mountain name. A journey to the cable car and a drive all the way up the mountain are different plans. With a taxi, agree the fare and how you will continue after the descent.

There is parking at the lower station, but a space is not a reservation. Ask about current arrangements on busy days before searching small access roads. Preferably leave your luggage at your accommodation. Combining checkout, the cable car and a long onward drive adds several moving parts that can make an otherwise simple outing harder work.

Tickets: buy the combination you will actually use

The reviewed ticket page directs visitors to the lower station for sales and the desk or direct contact for current prices. The operator offers one-way, return and activity combinations. For a normal day out from Tirana, return is the sensible starting point; discuss a different return arrangement before paying.

Then look at what is included. The FAQ says a meal is not automatically part of an activity combination and there is no single ticket covering every facility. Compare what you want to do, rather than just the package name. Keep your ticket and ask which parts must be used on the same day.

Opening and the final descent: make that your fixed point

When reviewed on 7 November 2026, the operator listed Tuesday as its regular day off, except when Tuesday falls on a public holiday. The reviewed table lists 09:00–18:00 on weekdays and 09:00–18:30 at weekends. These are published hours on the review date, not confirmation for your travel day. An open restaurant or an available hotel room does not establish that the cable car is running.

Ask on arrival when you must be back for the descent. A general closing time, the final uphill departure and when you want to arrive below are different things. The directions page also retains older summer times alongside a different overview on the ticket page. We do not invent one universal closing time from them; use the information for your actual visit date.

Arriving above: get your bearings before filling the day

On arrival, take a moment to recognise the return station, walking directions and available facilities. Around the complex, the operator lists a restaurant, hotel grounds and activities. You do not need to visit all of them. A clear route with one break is often more enjoyable than walking back and forth between options you only start investigating after arriving.

Choose an open, accessible viewpoint, walk a suitable distance around the area and then decide whether to eat or do something active. Do not assume a hotel terrace, activity or meal belongs to your cable-car ticket. You are paying for your chosen visit; the presence of a facility does not establish unrestricted access to every part.

Mini golf or the adventure park: choose one extra

Mini golf and the adventure park are different activities. The former suits a shared game without making walking the main event. The operator describes rope, net and zipline courses at the adventure park; ask about participation requirements, available supervision and opening for the specific course.

With children, our order would be to establish who can and wants to take part, then choose the ticket. The park page describes participation from age five, but that does not make every course suitable for every child. Leave room for a rest. Cable car, lunch and one activity already make a complete outing without working through every option.

A cable-car outing is not a Tujani or summit hike

The upper station, a walk around the complex and a journey to higher ground are different objectives. A mountain photograph with a walker does not explain where the route starts or how to return. Do not turn a short stroll into an unplanned approach to a summit you have noticed on a map.

The operator says independent trips to higher summits need experience and good navigation, directing other visitors towards guiding. This guide does not confirm a Tujani route or current trail conditions. If you want a real hike, make a separate route plan and use our walking guide as a starting point. Match that choice to your possible return to the cable car before purchasing.

Weather and visibility: decide what makes the day worthwhile

If the view is your main reason for going, check the weather shortly beforehand and ask about conditions above. An operating cable car does not automatically mean a clear view of the city. If your main interest is a lunch together or a specific activity, the balance may be different; your intended programme determines what makes a good day.

Bring an extra layer suited to the forecast, drinking water and comfortable shoes. With changing weather, keep to your original, manageable plan. Have an alternative in Tirana if the ride is not running or the outing would add little to your day. Avoid filling a final afternoon before departure with several elements that all depend on each other.

Combining Dajti with Bunk’Art 1: give both enough space

The municipality identifies the proximity of Bunk’Art 1 and the Dajti cable car as a reason to combine visits. That is a geographical opportunity, not a shared ticket or opening schedule. Bunk’Art 1 is the museum outside the centre; Bunk’Art 2 occupies a different location and is not an interchangeable stop in this plan.

Decide which is your main objective. Read the museum’s own visitor information for the date and plan both entrances, the transfer and a meal break. Do not reduce the museum to a leftover stop because the cable car took longer. With a short Tirana stay, one well-paced visit can offer more than two rushed ones; our Bunk’Art comparison helps you choose.

Children and access questions: assess the actual journey

For a family, consider both the activities above and the extra walking added by your bus choice and the grounds. A break, suitable clothes and light bags simplify the day. With young children, ask about access to your selected activity; for a pushchair, check boarding and moving around for your visit.

There is a substantial published restriction for wheelchair users: the reviewed ticket page says wheelchairs are not permitted on the cable car. Dajti Ekspres should therefore not be presented as a confirmed accessible outing. Discuss your particular mobility questions directly with the operator before committing to transport or an activity; a taxi to the entrance does not resolve cable-car access.

Check the evening before

  • The cable car is operating on your chosen day; check any closure notice.
  • Save the lower station and your bus or taxi plan for returning.
  • Choose one main idea for your time above and ask about requirements if needed.
  • Keep ticket contents, separate activities and meals distinct.
  • Match clothes and comfortable footwear to the weather and visit.
  • Leave free time after descending; confirm the last return locally.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the Dajti cable car take?

The operator gives about 15 minutes to the upper station. That is the ride alone: travel to the lower station, tickets, waiting and your time above are additional. We prefer a relaxed outing with a generous half-day of flexibility.

Can you visit Dajti without a car?

Yes, the operator and municipality describe the Porcelan bus approach followed by a final walk. Check the current departure point and return connection. If that approach does not suit you, arrange a ride to the lower station in Linzë.

Do you have to hike once you reach the top?

No. You can focus on the cable ride, views and a break. A longer mountain hike is a separate choice with its own preparation, rather than a necessary part of an ordinary visit.

Can you visit Dajti and Bunk’Art 1 in one day?

It can be a combination if both are open and you allow enough time. Treat them as two separate visits. Bunk’Art 1 is the nearby museum option here; Bunk’Art 2 is in the city centre.

Is Dajti worthwhile with limited visibility?

That depends on why you want to go. A panorama day needs a clear outlook more than a particular activity or break does. Ask about conditions and availability, and keep an alternative in Tirana in reserve.
