Bunk’Art 1 covers the communist army and everyday life under the regime. Bunk’Art 2 tells the history of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Sigurimi political police. They are separate museums; you do not need to visit both to take that history seriously.
- Bunk’Art 1: the rooms of Hoxha and Mehmet Shehu, a socialist home, education, sport and military communications. Choose it for the bunker and several aspects of everyday life.
- Bunk’Art 2: the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Sigurimi, focusing on surveillance and political persecution. Choose it for this subject and a city-centre visit.

Combine one museum with a different kind of afternoon
With one full city day, Bunk’Art 2 is easier to include in a central walking itinerary. Leave room for a break afterwards. Visiting two political-history museums consecutively is not a requirement for understanding Tirana.
Choose Bunk’Art 1 when you want to give the outing a larger part of the day. Avoid a lunch reservation immediately after your predicted finish. Travel, waiting and how much of the exhibition you read all affect when you return.

Getting there & around
Finding the right entrance: bus or on foot
For Bunk’Art 1, the museum names the Qendër–Porcelan (Centre–Porcelan) bus, departing near the Clock Tower. Ask for Bunk’Art 1 when boarding and confirm where to get off. The official directions page does not give a current fare or frequency.
Bunk’Art 2 is on Rruga Abdi Toptani in the centre. Include the museum number when opening directions or taking a taxi: the two entrances are in different parts of Tirana.

Practical preparation
Opening hours, tickets and preparation
On 26 October 2026, the official homepage and directions pages list daily hours of 09:30–17:30 for Bunk’Art 1 and 09:30–18:30 for Bunk’Art 2. These are the hours published on the review date; confirm opening and last admission for your visit.
Check winter notices carefully: an older notice gives a 16:30 closing time for Bunk’Art 1 from 26 October 2025. It does not confirm the winter 2026 schedule. Ask the museum which schedule applies if in doubt. We could not confirm a current ticket price on the official pages reviewed.
The visitor pages advise at least an hour per museum. Add time for reading, a break and the journey to Bunk’Art 1, where a light layer is recommended. Audio guides are available in English and Italian; bring your own headphones. Discuss steps, confined spaces or other access needs with the museum in advance.
